Psychological services are GST/HST-exempt when the statutory conditions are met — the service must be rendered to an individual by a practitioner licensed or otherwise certified to practise psychology in the province. Assessments and reports prepared for non-health-care purposes (for example, certain medico-legal or third-party assessments) can be taxable, so practices that do both have exempt and taxable revenue to separate, with ITCs restricted on the exempt side.
Exemptions apply only when the statutory CRA conditions are met; product sales, workshops, and other taxable supplies are tracked and reported separately. As of May 2026.
Psychologists in Ontario are governed by the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO), which shapes registration, incorporation, and how your practice can be structured.
We reconcile the systems you already use: Owl Practice, Jane App, extended health insurance, private pay, medico-legal / third-party assessments.
